1. Johann Heinrich1 Rhein was born circa 1700 at Germany. He died in 1754 at Pennsylvania.1

He was manumitted on 24 May 1747 at Dickenscheid, Germany.2 He immigrated on the ship Edinburgh arriving 16 Sep 1751 to Philadelphia; on the Edinborough, James Russel, Master.3

2. Johann Peter2 Rhein (Johann1); CD 166 was born on 6 Jan 1728 at Kirchberg, Simmern, Germany.18,19,20 He died on 8 Oct 1813? at near Adamstown, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, \\86y-6m-19d.21

CD 166 Johann Peter Erlich (Orbich or Orwig) of Godfried Erlich (Orbich or Orwig) and Ana Clara Lempertin, born July 6, 1750, bapt. August 12, 1750. Sponsors: Johan Peter Rein and Ana Elisabeth. Church Records: Selected Areas of PA, 600s-1800s Note problem - he didn't immigrate until Sept 1751. He immigrated on the ship Edinburgh arriving 16 Sep 1751.

3. Johann David2 Rhein (Johann1); The basic structure of this family group - David with sons Daniel and Henry and a daughter, Mrs. Hartz - is given In Montgomery. There too, his wife is identified as "Appeline Moyer, a native of Myerstown" was born on 7 Jan 1733 at Germany.25 He died on 7 Aug 1801 at Berks County, Pennsylvania, of dysentery.26,27 He was buried in Aug 1801 in First Reformed Church, Reading.

He immigrated on the ship Edinburgh arriving 16 Sep 1751. In the accounting for services by the executor of Christian Kammerer, David Rhine is mentioned for mending the windows.28 He was a cabinet maker, also Reading's first Undertaker.29,30 He was in the military Captain Conrad Geist's Company, 4th Battalion, Berks County Militia circa 1778. He appeared on the census of 1779 at Reading; David Rine.31

Johann David Rhein registered a will on 28 Jul 1801 at Reading, which read:

In the name of God Amen, I David Rhein in the Town of Reading Berks County and State of Pennsylvania, am at Present Old & weak in Body, but yet of good and sound Understanding and Memory Thanks be to God therefor, But Recollecting the Mortality of my body and know that it is ordered for all Man once to die, Therefore make my Last Will and Testament as follows. First I Recommend my Immortal Soul in the hands of God who gave it, and my Body to the Earth to be buried in a Decent and Christian like manner And touching such worldly estate wherewith it pleased God to bless me with in this Life, That I give and bequeath in the following manner and form. Item it is my wish and I do Order that my wife Maria Appalonia shall have in her pro??? All my Personal Estate and my House and half Lot as Long as she lives, Nevertheless shall my just Debts and funeral expenses be paid, but should it so happen that the Bonds yet Payable by my Son Henry, together with the Rent of the House should not be Sufficient for her that is to say my aforementioned wife her Sufficient Support, then she may at Pleasure take up Money on the House for her Support as much as she may stand in need of. But should it Please God to taker her from here before she Consumed the Money for the Bonds, then the yet Remaining Money of the Bonds, as well as the yet remaining Personal Estate shall be divided Equal between my four Children or their heirs, that is to say, to my two Sons Henry Rhein and Daniel Rhein, and to my two daughters, Rosina the wife of Ludwig Hertz and Barbara the wife of William Strunck, Excepting my Clothes, my two Sons shall have, and the Clothes of my wife my Two Daughter shall Divide in Equal Shares or their heirs, And after the Decease of my wife the house shall be sold at Public Venture, And the money Received therefor shall also be Divided in Equal Shares to and among my four Children.

And Lastly I Ordain and Appoint my Aforesaid Two Sons Henry Rhein and Daniel Rhein, as Executors of this my Last Will and Testament, hereby Revoking all other and former Wills by heretofore made Ratifying and declaring this and no other to be my last Will and Testament, In Testimony wherof I have hereunto set my hand and

5. Marie Barbara3 Rhein (Johann2, Johann1) was born on 22 Apr 1768 calculated.38,39 She died on 3 Mar 1809 at Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania.40,41 She was buried after 3 Mar 1809 in Eplers Church Cemetery, Reading, Berks, Pennsylvania.42

6. Henrich3 Rhein (Johann2, Johann1); Montgomery says "He married Susan Ebling, and to them were born: Daniel; Henry: Peter and Elizabeth" was born on 7 Apr 1774 calculated. He died in Nov 1843 at Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania. He was buried on 8 Nov 1843 in First Reformed Church, Reading. at age 69/6/31.57

He was a cabinet maker and undertaker as well as a manufacturer of blacksmiths bellows.58

Children of Henrich3 Rhein and Susan Ebling all born at Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania, were as follows:

7. Daniel3 Rhein (Johann2, Johann1) was born on 8 Nov 1778.63,64 He died on 1 Dec 1868 at Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania.65,66 He was buried on 4 Dec 1868 in Charles Evans Cemetery - Section G Lot 57, Reading.67

Were he and Anne E. Rhein parent and child? (an unknown value). He resided at 249 Washington Street, Reading, before 1868.68

Daniel Rhein registered a will on 21 Jan 1865 at Reading, which read:

Be it remembered that I, Daniel Rhein of the city of Reading, County of Berks and state of Pennsylvania, yeoman, being of sound mind memory and understanding, do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner following that is to say:

First. It is my will that all my funeral expenses and just debts be fully paid by my Executors hereinafter named as soon after my decease as can well be done.

Item. I give and devise to my two daughters, Amelia and Rebecca Rhein, all my Household goods and Kitchen Furniture to be divided between them share and share alike, and to their heirs and and assigns, and also I direct that the sum of One Thousand Dollars shall be secured upon and remain in my two houses, in West Penn Street between Third and Fourth Streets, now in the occupancy of Ritter & Kling and Helms & German, the interest of which said sum, commencing from the date of my decease shall be paid semi-annually by my Executors to my daughter Amelia during the time of her natural life. And I direct that a like Sum of One Thousand Dollars shall be secured upon, and remain in the same properties, the interest of which said sum shall be paid semi-annually by my Executors to my daughter Rebecca, during the term of her natural life, and immediately at and upon the decease of either or both of my said daughters, the said principle sum on One Thousand Dollars, so secured or invested for each, shall be distributed and divided among my children then surviving, and their heirs, share and share alike, and said respective sums of One Thousand Dollars may at the discretion of my Executors be secured upon separate portions of the property above described.

And further I give and devise unto my said daughters Amelia and Rebecca for and during the term of their natural lives, the free use and occupancy of my dwelling that I now live in and the survivor of them, and at the death of the said survivor to be sold, and the proceeds thereof to be divided between all my children and their respective heirs, share and share alike.

Item: I give and devise my Library to my said Children, to be divided, share and share alike.

Item: My will is that my son Daniel pay to my son John the just sum of Four Hundred Dollars, for a note now held by him. But if not paid before the division of my estate, the said John to be paid the said sum of Four Hundred Dollars by my Executors, and taken from the said Daniels proportion of the said estate.

Item, I do further order and direct the sum of Six Hundred and Forty Dollars and Twenty five cents, being the amount of a Bond dated on the first day of September A.D. Eighteen Hundred and fifty-eight, held by me against my son Henry R. be paid by him, by the same being deducted from his share of my estate, but I direct that he shall pay no interest on said Bond.

Item, I do further order and direct that the Sum of Four Hundred and Nine dollars, and Eighty-seven cents, being the amount of a Bond, dated on the twelvth day of February A.D. Eighteen Hundred and fifty-nine, held by me against my Son David be paid by him by the same being deducted from his share of my estate, but I direct that he shall pay no interest on said Bond.

Item, As touching all the rest and residue of my Estate Real and personal, I will and direct my Executors hereinafter named to sell or cause to be sold, either at public or private sale and within One year from my decease, and the nett proceeds thereof to be divided share and share alike between my said seven children viz. Sarah, Daniel, John, Amelia, Rebecca, David and Henry R. Rhein and their respective heirs and assigns, and for that purpose I do hereby authorize and empower my said Executors, or the survivors of them to sign, seal, Execute and acknowledge, all such Deeds of conveyance, as may be requisite and necessary for the granting and assuring the Same to the purchaser or purchasers thereof in fee simple.

And Lastly: I nominate, constitute and appoint My Son John Rhein, and my sons in law Benjamin Haywood and John B. Grissinger to be the Executors of this my last will and Testament, hereby revoking all other wills, legacies, and bequests, by me heretofore made and declaring this, and on other to be my last will and Testament.

RHEIN.--In this city, on the 1st inst., DANIEL RHEIN, aged 90 years and 23 days.

The relatives and friends of the deceased are respectfully invited to attend his funeral on Friday afternoon, at 1 o'clock, from his late residence, 249 Washington street, without further notice. Religious services in the Ebenezer M. E. Church, Fourth street, below Penn. Interment in the Charles Evans' Cemetery.

8. Daniel4 Rhein (Henrich3, Johann2, Johann1) was born on 14 Sep 1798 at Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania.99 He died circa 28 May 1873 Tombstone says "May 1873."100 He was buried on 31 May 1873 in Charles Evans Cemetery - Section 69D Lot R5 GR16, Reading. tombstone says May 1873.101

He appeared on the census of 1850; Rhein, Danl E. 72 6th ward roll 1307 page 58.

Children of Daniel4 Rhein and Catherine Fuchs were as follows:

Heinrich E.4 Rhein (Henrich3, Johann2, Johann1); Middle initial from son's death certificate was born on 25 Dec 1799 at Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania.107 He died on 9 Apr 1873 at Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania.108 He was buried on 14 Apr 1873 in Charles Evans Cemetery - Section G Lot 53-54, Reading.109,110 His estate was probated on 19 Apr 1873; Registers office Berks County SS on the 19th day of April A.D. 1873, Before me H. S. Getz Deputy Register of Wills lc Personally appeared E. H. Shearer & Daniel Potteiger, the Subscribing Witnesses to the foregoing will, being duly Sworn according to Law did depose and Say that they were present, and did see and hear Henry E. Rhein, the testator, Sign, Seal, publish and declare the foregoing Instrument of writing, as and for his Last Will and Testament, that at the time of so doing he was of Sound mind memory and understanding, to the best of their knowledge observation and beleif; H. S. Getz Deputy Register.

He was a cabinet maker and undertaker. In 1846, he directed the first funeral at the Charles Evans Cemetery for John Norton's first wife. The location of Harriet Norton's grave is shown on the map in the Charles Evans Cemetery Brochure.111

Heinrich E. Rhein registered a will on 26 Mar 1870, which read:

In the name of God Amen. I, Henry E. Rhein of the City of Reading, in the county of Berks and State of Pennsylvania Cabinet-maker, being of sound mind, memory and understanding, do make and publish this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking and making void all former wills by me at any time heretofore made-and inasmuch as my son Henry S. Rhein, and my daughters, Rebecca S. Rhein and Amelia S. Duth married to Duth, have already been provided for, by having certain property conveyed and confirmed unto them and each of them by me heretofore, in lieu of their and each of their respective share or shares, of inheritance out of my Estate, therefore I make this my last Will and Testament in Manner following, to wit:- And first I direct that my body be decently buried and that my funeral be conducted in a manner corresponding with my estate and situation in life, and I direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses to be fully paid and satisfied as soon as conveniently may be after my decease.-

Item- I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Margaret all my finished cabinet ware, on hand at the time of my decease, all my certificates of loan of the City of Reading, all bonds and notes and all other evidence of indebtedness to me, that I have or may have at the time of my decease; and I also give and bequeath to my said wife Margaret, all my household furniture and goods of whatever kind or nature soever, of which I may die possessed of for her use, for and during her natural life, and after her death the same to go to my son Henry S. Rhein, if he be then living, and if he is not living, the same shall go to the heirs of my said wife, share and share alike. I further give and bequeath to my said wife Margaret all that certain lot of ground situate on the West side of North Third Street, between Penn and Washington Streets in the City of Reading adjoining property of Thomas on the north, by property of B. F. Owen on the South, on the West by a ten feet wide alley and on the East by said Third Street, containing in front on said Third Street Twenty-feet and in depth East and West one hundred and thirty-five feet more or less to her and to her heirs and assigns forever.-

Item- All the rest and residue of my Estate, real, personal and mixed of which I shall die seized and prossessed or to which I shall be entitled at my decease, I give devise and bequeath, to my son Henry S. Rhein, to him and to his heirs and assigns forever.-

That on the 16th day of May 1885 the said court, in pursuance of a petition and citation to Henry S. Rhein, Executor of Henry E. Rhein dec'd. to pay over to your petitioner the amount due to the estate of the Said Margaret Rhein dec'd. Entered a decree of distribution in favor of your petitioner by which, inter alia, the said Henry S. Rhein, Executor as aforesaid was d??i?hed(??) to pay over the sum of $5,585.26: that to said decree Henry S. Rhein the Executor of said Henry E. Rhein filed exceptions

which on the 29th of January 1886 were dismissed by said court and the decree of distribution was duly confirmed: that from said decree the said Executor on the 3rd day of February 1886, appealed to the Supreme Court who on the 14th day of March 1887, affirmed the decree of the Orphan's Court; and that the money due on said decree is still due and unsatisfied.

Your petitioner therefore prays the Court for allowance to open a writ of fe fa against the said Henry S. Rhein Executor of Henry E. Rhein dec'd. to collect the amount of said decree with interest and costs according to the act of assembly &l. And she will pray to Rebecca S. Miller, Executrix

Children of Heinrich E.4 Rhein and Margareth Shearer were as follows:

10. Peter4 Rhein (Henrich3, Johann2, Johann1) was born on 8 Mar 1802 at Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania.127 He died on 8 Apr 1864 at Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania.128,129 He was buried on 11 Apr 1864 in Charles Evans Cemetery - Section N Lot 65, Reading.130

He was a tailor. Peter Rhein is head of household on the census of 25 Jun 1860 at SouthWest Ward, Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania, as Peter Rein. He was 58 years old and a "Taylor" with $75 of personal estate. The next household listed was that of his son Jacob Rhein. Enumerated with Peter Rhein were Elizabetha Witman and Rebecca Fry.131 He resided at Cherry Alley below 5th street.132 His death notice on 8 Apr 1864 read:

In this city on the 8th inst., PETER RHEIN, aged 62 years 1 month.

The friends and relatives are respectfully invited to attend the funeral this afternoon at 2 o'clock from his late residence in Cherry alley below fifth street.

11. Ann Marie4 Rhein (Henrich3, Johann2, Johann1) was born on 28 Apr 1804 at Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania.135 She died on 14 Jul 1874 at First Reformed Church, Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania.136

12. Elizabeth4 Rhein (Henrich3, Johann2, Johann1) was born on 18 Jul 1809 at Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania.139 She died on 21 Feb 1899 at 330 N. 10th Street, Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania, Infirmities.140,141 She was buried on 25 Feb 1899 in Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading.142,143

Her obituary appeared on 21 Feb 1899. It read:

MRS. JOHN GRAINGER

Elizabeth, widow of John Grainger, died of the infirmities of old age at 7:30 a. m. Tuesday at her residence 333 North 10th in her 90th year. Deceased was in feeble health the past year and confined to bed about 4 weeks. She was the daughter of Henry and Mary Rhein and was born in Reading, residing here all of her life. Her husband preceeded her in death 27 years. She was the last of her family and was well known among the older residents of Reading. One daughter, Sarah, wife of John Michael of Reading and 8 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren remain. Deceased was a life-long member of the First Reformed Church.

13. Daniel4 Rhein (Daniel3, Johann2, Johann1) was born on 3 Feb 1811 at Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania.150,151 He died between 1868 and 1883.

Were he and Daniel Rhein the same person?; 5423 has a d named Amelia, but she is not mentioned in will of THE Amelia, and so is probably not closely related. On the other hand, Amelia did leave 6 silver spoons marked w her name to her niece Anne. This would make particular sense if Anne were actually Amelia Ann or something similar - Jul 1999.

Children of Daniel4 Rhein and an unknown spouse were as follows:

14. John4 Rhein (Daniel3, Johann2, Johann1); Could this line have moved to Philadelphia? There are John Rheins there see CD 113 was born circa 1812 at Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania.156 He died between 1865 and 1883.157,158

He resided at 117 South 8th Street, Reading.175,176 He was a patternmaker.177 His obituary appeared on 2 Dec 1892. It read:

David Rhein, aged 68 years died at 117 South 8th st., at 8:30 Thursday evening, from a stroke of apoplexy, which he received while at work at Meilert's foundry on Wednesday morning. The Reading Hose ambulance was called and conveyed him to his home, where he lapsed in a semi-conscious condition, in which state he remained until his demise. Mr. Rhein was born in Reading, where the Opera House now stands, and where he later carried on the cabinetmaking and undertaking business for 20 years, until he was burned out. After that he was employed at the Scott works for many years at his trade--patternmaking. For the past several years he was employed at Mellert's foundry.

Deceased enjoyed the best of health and never suffered seriously from illness. He had a large number of friends and was one of the first presidents of lodge F.A.M. No. 62, but withdrew some years ago. He was the father of 4 children who with his widow survive. They are: Eugene and Howard Rhein. Mrs. Warren Doughty and Mrs. Wm. Essick. Deceased was the last of the family of the late Daniel Rhein.

First._ I order and direct all my just debts and funeral expenses to be paid as soon as can conveniently be done after my decease.

Second._ My small farm situated in Spring Township Berks County Pa. along the Dry Road, bounded by land late of Charles V. R. Evans dec'd, and others containing three and a half acres, more or less, I give and devise to my wife Emma S. Rhein, her heirs and assigns forever. This small farm I give to my said wife in lieu of any dower or right of dower in any of my other real estate, and also in lieu of the Three Hundred Dollars Exemption.

Third,_ My house and lot of ground No 224 Penn Street in the city of Reading aforesaid, and also my small farm in Alsace Township, Berks Co. Pa, bounded by lands of Goodhart, Albert Thalheimer, and others, containing twenty-eight acres more or less, and whatever other real estate which I might hereafter purchase and own at them time of my death, I give to my said wife, Emma S. Rhein as long as she remains my widow unmarried, and if she should not get married again, then she shall have the same for and during her natural live, and immediately after her death, or in case of her marrying again after my death, then immediately after such marriage, I give, devise and bequeath the same to my daughter Mary S. Rhein her heirs and assigns forever. If at any time my said wife should consider it best for my estate, that is, best for herself and my said daughter, to sell said real estate, given to her for life or widowhood, then in such case she shall have the right, and I hereby authorize her to sell the same at public or private sale, and give and execute a deed or deeds to the purchaser or purchasers in fee simple; and the money that may be realized from such sale or sales shall be invested by either purchasing other real estate, or putting it on interest in first mortgage security. But such investments are to be made so that the income or interest thereof shall belong to my said wife during her life, or widowhood, and the principal thereof thereafter to my said daughter.

Fourth._ All the rest and residue of my estate, including all my personal estate and effects I give and bequeath to my said wife, Emma S. Rhein absolutely.

Fifth._ I hereby constitute and appoint my said wife Emma S. Rhein executrix of this my will.

Sixth._ I hereby expressly order and direct that my said wife who is herein named as executrix of this my will, shall have it (this my wife) in due time properly probated, and strictly carry out the instructions in this my will given, make no appraisement, file no account and incur no more expenses than is absolutely necessary. All laws to the contrary not-withstanding.

Seventh._ It is my desire that my daughter Mary be properly educated - in a manner in Keeping with her station and circumstances of life: and for that purpose I authorize and request my said wife as executrix to raise money to carry out this my wish and will, not however, to exceed the sum of one thousand dollars, to educate my said daughter, for whom I hereby appoint my said wife guardian.

aged 76 years, died of cancer of the throat early this morning, at the home of his son, William Rhein, Blandon, after an illness of four months. He had been bedfast three weeks. Mr. Rhein was born and reared in Reading and attended the schools of this city. When a young man he learned the trade of a puddler, beginning at the age of 12 years. He was first employed at the Bertolet Rolling Mill at the foot of Penn street. He was boss roller there for many years. Later he was employed in the Seyfert, McManus & Co. mill and in later years was with the Reading Iron Company. Mr. Rhein was recognized as a roller of skill. Deceased retired about six years ago and for seven months lived at Blandon. While in this city he had lived at 433 Spruce street and also with his son-in-law G. Sam. Hantsch, 119 South Fourth street. Mr. Rhein was a member of St. Peter's M. E. Church, the Knights of Pythias and the Odd Fellows. His wife died four years ago. Deceased is survived by the following children: Mrs. Henry Kerns, Reading; William Rhein, Blandon; Charles Rhein, Reading, and one brother, Augustus Rhein, this city. The remains will be brought to this city for interment. Undertaker Miller has charge.

He was "seven- eighths unable to earn a support by manual labor by reason of impaired eyesight - especially the left eye -no teeth, rheumatism, kidney affection, piles, heart affection, dry tetter, pain across small of the back - much pain on the chest, left side - disease of lungs."254 He resided at 1915 Gibralter Street, Robeson Township, Berks County, in 1915. Surviving are two daughters Mrs. Florence Reilly and Mrs. Alice Kolb, both of Reading; six grandchldren, three great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Alice Doughty, of Reading.

The funeral of Julia, wife of G. Samuel Hantsch (nee Rhein), took place from her residence 119 South 4th at 11 a. m. Rev. B. T. Callen held services. The remains lay in a square-cornered mahogany carved casket, with oxidized extension bar handles, oxidized trimmings and plate, and were attired in a lavender robe. The bearers were: William and Charles Rhein, Howard Hantsch and Conrad Schneider. Among the out-of-town people present were: Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Schneider, Maryland; John W. Watkins of Phila. The tributes included a large flat cluster of 44 chrysanthemums, emblematic of deceased's age, from family; cluster of roses, parents; cluster of chrysanthemums, Mrs. George E. Ruth and daughter; cluster of carnations, George Atkins; cluster of chrysanthemums, Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Schwenk and family; cluster of roses, sister Tillie; cluster of roses, Howard; cluster of pink carnations, Hollis family; cluster of white chrysanthemums, Mr. and Mrs. Ammon Leinbach; cluster of white chrysanthemums, M. G. Hollis; cluster of La France roses, Maude; cluster of yellow chrysanthemums, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rhein; anchor on pedestal of natural flowers, bearing inscription "Sadly missed," in blue immortelles, nephew Jacob Rhein. Former City Inspector Held State Office. Peter A. Rhein, who was a barber in Reading for 50 years, died suddenly last evening while seated in a chair in the garden of his home, 207 South Fourth St. Members of the family said he had worked yesterday at the Reading Hospital where he is employed. Rhein was the first state barber inspector in Reading, serving from 1931 to 1934. He was formerly secretary and treasurer of the Pennsylvania State Barbers' Association for ten years and was active in securing passage of the state sanitary barber bill. He conducted a barber shop at Sixth and Washington Streets for many years, and was a member of the Elks and St. John's Reformed Church. Surviving are his widow, Ella (Leisey); five daughters, E. Nettie, wife of Philip Wesner, Reading; Florence, wife of Passmore Brison, Reading; Elsie, wife of John Wertz, Reading; Dorothy G., wife of Thomas Schrader, Reading and Mildred R., wife of George Wolf, Trumbauerville, ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services Monday at 2 o'clock in the F. F. Seidel, Inc. Funeral Home. The Rev. W. O. Laub and the Rev. Dr. Thomas H. Leinbach officiating. Burial in Charles Evans Cemetery.

A PM was performed #185.535,536 He was buried on 16 Oct 1930 in St John's Cemetery, Hamburg.537

He resided at 120½ Orange Street, Reading, in 1896.538 He was a machinist.539.

JACOB RHEIN, BLANDON, DEAD

Blandon, Nov. 22 (Special).--Jacob C. Rhein, aged 37 years, 10 months and 28 days, son of of William and Kate E. Rhein, of this place died from tuberculosis last evening at the home of his parents. Deceased, who was a member of the Evangelical church, is survived by his parents and two brothers, Chester A., Reading, and William G., Philadelphia, and a half-brother Harry J. Price, Reading. These children also survive: Guy, this place, and Catharine, of Carbondale. Deceased was employed on the railroad here as section hand until about four months ago, when he had to quit on account of ill health. Undertaker Miller, of Reading has charge.

Funeral, Monday, Nov. 29. After the services at the residence of the parents, the cortege will proceed to the Charles Evans cemetery, in Reading, where burial will be made. Rev. D. S. Stauffer, of Fleetwood, will officiate.

She was listed as a proof reader in the 1900 Census on 1 Jun 1900. She and Conrad Frederick Schneider resided at Frostburg, Allegany County, Maryland, in 1901.586 Her obituary appeared on 8 Jun 1957. Jane Schneider Of Palmyra Is Taken By Death

Mrs. Jane R. Schneider, 78, of 48 N. College St., Palmyra, died last evening at the Barrows Nursing Home in Palmdale, where she had been a guest for three years.

Born in Reading, a daughter of G. Samuel and Julia (Rhein) Hantsch, she was the widow of Conrad F. Schneider, who founded the Schneider Printing Company in Palmyra.

She was a member of Trinity E. U. B. Church and the Sunshine Class and Womens Guild of the church. Mrs. Schneider Also belonged to the Palmyra Womens Club; Lebanon Chapter 115, Order of the Eastern Star; and the following Harrisburg organizations; Bethany Shrine, Willard Court, Order of Amaranth; and Daughters of the Nile.

She leaves one son J.. Howard Schneider, Palmyra; three grand children; three great-grandchildren, and two brothers; Richard Howard Hantsch, El Paso, Texas, and Edwin Hantsch, Binghamton, N.Y.

Mrs. Harry G. Seivard Dies At G. S. Hospital. Mrs. Elizabeth L. Seivard, aged fifty-eight, wife of Harry G. Seivard, of the Greystone Manor Apartments, North College Street, Palmyra, died Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. in the Good Samaritan Hospital, this city, following an illness of six weeks. She had been a patient at the hospital since Sunday , and her death was attributed to complication. Born at Reading, a daughter of Samuel G. Hantsch and the late Julia Hantsch, she resided in Cleveland and Reading during the greater part of her life. Mrs. Seivard was a resident of Palmyra for the last three years. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter Julia; a grandson, Jay; her father, Samuel G. Hantsch of Palmyra; a sister, Mrs. C. F. Schneider, of Palmyra; and two brothers, Howard Hantsch of El Paso, Texas and Edwin Hantsch of Bridgeport, Conn.

George H. Hantsch, 81, 205 Vine St., died, yesterday at 12:25 p.m. at Barksdale Air Force Hospital after a month“s illness. A World War I veteran and a retired U.S. Army Master Sergeant, Mr. Hantsch was also a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Reading, Pa. During the war he served six years overseas in the Meuse-Argonne and St. Mihiel offensives and in the army of occupation. A resident of Shreveport for 15 years, he was a native of Reading, Pa., and a former resident of El Paso. Tex. He is survived by one son, Jerry Easley, and one daughter, Miss Myrtis Easley, both of Shreveport. Funeral arrangements are pending under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
